And a lightbulb moment...

Wednesday, September 26, 2012
Ok sooooo I am not fortunate enough to have bulletin boards in the hall, yet we need work up that is constantly changing.... So you tape it up with a cute boarder and details right? No. We need butcher paper too! And did I mention change it a million times? Well what happens when you tape something to butcher paper?? It tears of course!!!

So we've tried the sheet protectors and the clothesline, but there is ALWAYS something malfunctioning!

Let me present the solution with exhibit a, b, and c!!!

Adorable Vinyl for MacBook!

Monday, September 24, 2012
So many of you know that a while back YOU helped my class get an amazing MacBook!

And I can't thank you enough!!

Now we are able to format our iPads, iPods, and tag readers immediately instead of waiting for Mrs. Stanford to lug it back and forth from school to home.

Anyway...I thought I'd cutie-ize it for the kiddos. (and yes I just made up that word)
So I bought this for little cutie for about $3 bucks {here}!!

It was so easy to apply and it's sooooo adorable!

Just what I needed. Cheap. Easy. Cute.

Weekly Spelling Practice

Friday, September 21, 2012
It's been a while since I uploaded something to TpT so I decided to cutsie up my spelling packet and put it up there for y'all! Here are some previews...

(and if you love it, I'd love some pins :] )

Each Monday for homework I have my students write their words 3 times each while saying the word. Students get acquainted with the look and feel of each word.
Tuesdays I have them alphabetize their spelling list. This starts their dictionary skills and teaches them not to practice their list in order. (You've had those kids that can only ace the test if you give them in the order they were listed right??)
Wednesdays I like for them to create a sentence for each and every spelling word. At the beginning of the year I encourage help, but as the year progresses they become more and more independent!

Thursdays I like for them to take a practice test and practice any words they miss in preparation for the test the next day.
I created their tests to be small so that I could save paper!

Will You Still Love Me?

Tuesday, September 11, 2012
I swear I've said it 1,000 times and I truly mean it, I miss blogging! I swear I feel like a first year teacher all over again! Taking on a new grade is no easy task. I feel like there are not enough hours in the day and the hours of sunlight are shorter and shorter! Well obviously that part is true... Apparently I have to live in the southern hemisphere, but then I'd just have that problem at a different time of year, huh?

I digress!

But you hear me right? Professional developments, rubrics, lesson plans, assessments, grading... The list goes on and on and when you're done the vicious cycle starts all over again!!

Anyway I promise I haven't forgotten you! And I'll leave you with a photo from journal time this morning (not really sure where the pic will appear since I'm fiddling with blogger on my phone! Eeek.

Much love!
