Remind 101

(updated information found HERE)

Hey everyone!! I can't wait to tell you what I am using this year (and let me start out by saying this is not an infomercial!! I swear I'm writing this on my own free will to help you!)

As we all know our world is changing and calling every parent each night to tell them about something special occuring just isn't happening... that's where this dandy little app and website (I just found this part out) come in handy!!

It's called Remind101

Long story short you invite parents to join by text or email (I just found this out too!! It keeps getting better!) and what the app allows you to do is shoot a quick text/email through their server to your subscribers!! This way you don't have to give out your cell number or anything!! It works just like any major companies text services... You know those text 493493 to 32098432 to receive updates about blahblahblah?? Well this is it!

A system to text parents with info. I might like this.

What the parents will see...

Oh and did I mention you can have more than one class??? That way you can text different messages to different groups!
After checking it out online I found that parents can do it by email too! So I have the app on my phone... if I want to say "Hello Parents, just found amazing deals at Target! .50 for 24 ct Crayola crayons" I can shoot that to anyone that subsribes to me in one message :)
And JUUUUUUUUUUUUST found out that you can schedule messages for later!! Have folders due each Friday? Why not shoot a text reminding parents Thursday night to sign and return them in the morning?? (did you see I already have 6 subscribers and the year hasn't even started yet!! I think the parents are excited too!)

AMMMMMMMMMMMAZING right?
Woah woah hold the horses!
Did I forget to mention:
IT'S FREE!

Using Remind101 paired with my personal behavior system has kept my students' parents in the know of what is occuring daily in our classroom!

and don't forget to check out my newest hobby :)

WOW, I LOVE IT!!!!!! What a great way to stay in touch with your parents. I am sooooooooo pinning this post so that I can remember to use it next year. Thanks for sharing, this was one of the best informercials that I've seen. . .even better than the expandable hose that I almost ordered from TV last night : )

A spokesperson indeed! Haha, thanks so much for sharing remind101. We are also adding a 'repeat' feature so you can say, "Send this message every Tuesday and Thursday at 8am", then schedule it and it will send out automatically every Tuesday and Thursday!

This sounds like a great thing to use with families! More and more families rely on their cell phones today than ever.
I would sign up to receive these messages if you set it up through your blog- I have finally figured out text messaging without asking my adult children- I'm cool like that- ok, my kids told me I have come into the current century :)

That's such a great resource. I also recently read about using QR codes for parents for directions and due dates... I wonder if this can be configured to send certain info only when they ask for it so they can ask for directions for homework and whatnot..

Thanks for posting!

Jessica Ann Stanford said...

Andrea all they have to do is text STOP in response and it will delete them from the list.

Saw this on Pinterest and had to sign up! What a great communication tool to use with parents! Just wanted to check if there are any fees associated with this (other than if someone gets charged for text usage on their phone)? I saw remind101 folks on here, so hoping they can answer that! Thanks!

Do you know whether the parents can message back or is it a one-way mode of communication?
