How Do I Start DonorsChoose?

Friday, June 29, 2012

After hearing from so many of you I realized that there are far fewer teacher bloggers on donorschoose.org than I thought!! If you are a public school teacher and you are not on donorschoose you need to get started now!! So for that very reason I'm going to show you how easy it is!!

If you would like to tell your friends and coworkers about donorschoose feel free to use or pin this button :)

Would I catch your attention if I said I have obtained over $20,000 worth of supplies and materials in my classroom in the last 2.5 years of donors choose!?

If you have any questions, concerns, suggestions, or just plain ol comments let me know!!

Thanks for the tips on Donors Choose. I tried it once & failed miserably- I'm sure I wasn't doing something right, so I have been hesitant to do another one. After reading so many positive posts & tips about DonorsChoose, I think I'm ready to try again! :)

I've had a lot of luck with them as well. It amazes me how generous people who don't even know us can be! Great tips! :)

Thank you for the directions. I've been wanting to do something through Donors Choose for awhile, but I was never sure what to do. I'm still a bit confused with the whole thing. You make it sound so easy.

I have one up that I started a couple of weeks ago. I haven't got any donations. I don't think I know how to promote it well enough

Thank you for all of the tips on how to get a DonorsChoose project up and running! I posted a project a couple of weeks ago and I haven't received even one donation! I am putting it out there for my facebook friends and telling people about it but nothing is happening!! Can you give me some tips for how to get donors?? Here is the link to my project: www.donorschoose.com/ashleyhorn Maybe you can tell me what I'm doing wrong?! I appreciate it. :)

I was wondering if your student population was that of need. I know that my school is not considered a "needy" school, however we don't get much in the way of funding because our children come from middle-class families that are suppose to have lots of resources at their disposal. Our families fund everything at our school so I was wondering if these types of schools get funded by donors also or are most of them looking for those schools with lower income children?

Mrs. Polston,
My students are VERY in need. Almost 80% of them receive free and reduced lunch and our families are really not involved in our school and can't contribute to our resources. I can't imagine this is the reason that I'm not getting any funding. I know it's summer but come on!! haha Thanks for your advice.

Thank you so much for this tutorial on Donors Choose. I put one together this year without getting it funded and I hope to get one funded this fall.
